The story so far
A home years in the making
Karima began in 1998. Since then the prayer space, the four schools, the library and the youth work have grown far beyond what our current space can hold.
So we took a step of faith and secured a building of our own: Ribaat al Muhammadiyah. Phase 1, buying the site, is complete, paid for by this community's generosity. Now comes Phase 2: making it ready to open its doors.
The vision
More than a building
Ribaat al Muhammadiyah is an amānah, a trust we carry for the generations after us. When it opens, it will hold:
A place for prayer and reflection
A welcoming space for women, families and elders
Classrooms for children and adults
A hub for youth work, sport and community services
Phase 2
What Phase 2 will do
Before a single class can be taught or prayer prayed, three things must be done:
A new roof, to make the building sound and secure.
Full electrical and safety work, so it meets every standard for teaching, worship and community use.
Core renovation of the prayer areas and classrooms, so the Centre can begin serving people without delay.
We are starting with one area, ready for teaching and classes, and building out from there.
Sadaqah jāriyah
Giving that outlives you
Every prayer offered in this Centre, every child taught, every young person guided, will carry a share of its reward back to those who helped build it, by the permission of Allah. This is sadaqah jāriyah at its finest: a reward that keeps flowing long after the gift is given.
