The Karima Foundation (registered charity no. 1121257, Castlefield Community Centre, Rutland Avenue, High Wycombe HP12 3LL) runs this website. This page explains what personal information we collect through it, why, and what your rights are. If anything here is unclear, email us at info@karima.org.uk and we will happily explain.
What we collect, and why
When you fill in a form on this site (contact, volunteering, or safeguarding), we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, and your message. We use them only to read and respond to your enquiry. These messages are delivered to the relevant member of our team by email; they are not stored in a database on this website.
When you book a place at an event on events.karima.org.uk, we collect the details needed to run the event: your name, email address, and the answers to any questions the event asks. We use them to confirm your booking, issue your ticket, and contact you about that event. Booking records are kept so we can run the event and meet our record-keeping obligations as a charity.
When you apply to one of our schools or programmes (for example the Foundation to Alimiyyah programme), the application asks for information about your child and your family, including details such as date of birth, school, medical conditions and allergies, and both parents’ or guardians’ contact details where available. We ask for this because we need it to consider the application, keep children safe in our care, and contact you. Access to this information is limited to the staff who run admissions and the school concerned.
When you pay for something, your card details go directly to Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your card number. Stripe confirms to us that payment was made, and we keep the record of your order.
When you sign up to hear from us by email, we use your name and email address to send you the updates you asked for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing always works.
Children
Some of what we do is for children, and applications for children are made by a parent or guardian, not by the child. We treat information about children with particular care: it is collected only for admissions and safeguarding purposes, seen only by the staff who need it, and never used for marketing.
Safeguarding messages
Messages sent through the safeguarding form go directly by email to our safeguarding lead and are not stored on the website. If your message is about immediate danger to a child or adult, call 999; the form is not monitored around the clock.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of carefully chosen services to run the website, and your information passes through them only for the purposes above: Stripe (payments), Resend (sending our emails, such as booking confirmations), Railway and Cloudflare (hosting the events system and storing images such as event posters), Framer (hosting this website), Google Workspace (our staff email), and GetResponse (our email newsletter system, only if you have signed up to hear from us). We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information no longer than we need it for the purpose it was collected for. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as charity accounting rules require. Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry. Application information for our schools is kept for the duration of the application and, for successful applicants, enrolment.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time: what information we hold about you, for a copy of it, for it to be corrected, or for it to be deleted where we no longer need it. Email info@karima.org.uk and we will respond promptly. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies needed to make it work. If we add analytics or any other non-essential cookies, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page. This version was published in August 2026.
