How we keep people safe,
and how we are held to account.
Hundreds of children and adults use Castlefield Community Centre every week: 350+ children across four schools, youth clubs and scouts, a public library, prayer and events. This page sets out how we protect them, and how the Karima Foundation is run and held accountable as a registered charity.
Safeguarding comes first.
Every child and every vulnerable adult who comes to Karima has the right to be safe, and every parent has the right to know how we make that so. Our commitment is simple to state: safeguarding is not a policy on a shelf, it is the first consideration in how every programme is planned, staffed and run.
In practice, that means: activity leaders working with children are DBS-checked; and every programme follows our safeguarding policy.
If something worries you, tell us.
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of any child or adult at Karima, however small the concern seems, we want to hear it. You will be listened to, taken seriously, and told what happens next.

How the Foundation is run.
The Karima Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales, Charity No. 1121257, and is Gift Aid registered with HMRC. Our record, including our accounts and annual returns, is public on the Charity Commission register, and we encourage anyone considering a donation to read it.
The Foundation is governed by a board of trustees. Trustees are responsible in law for the charity’s funds, its safeguarding duty and its compliance.
