Respect for Parents

Friday, 16th February 2018
Children excitedly invited their parents to two very special events to show them just how much they appreciated them. The events provided a wonderful opportunity for both mums and dads to spend some quality time with their children.
What were the events?
Tea Party - female students invited their mothers for a spot of tea and cake!
After a super exciting, competitive ice breaker (balloon game), we were very privileged to host Ustadha Shaista who provided a beautiful reminder of the duties of a child to their parent and the responsibility of a parent to their child. After (healthy!!!) refreshments, the mums were spoilt with a pampering session and delighted by nasheeds recited by their daughters. They were each presented with a rose with a personalised message. The evening ended with all the mums completing a card with a pledge to their daughter. (The pledges are being held by the school until Ramadan, when they will be returned to the mums to see whether they were able to fulfil their pledges!).
Pizza Night – male students invited their fathers or an elder for a bonding session.
The evening started with a set of question the fathers had to answer about their sons:
What’s your son’s favourite food?
What’s your son’s favourite colour?
Name your son’s best friends?
What is your son’s favourite TC Show?
What is your son’s worst habit?
Turban donning, necktie tying, building towers and bench ball were the activities that greeted the students and their fathers. Lots of laughter was had by all (pictures are testament to this), pictures also suggest we were able to upskill our students (and fathers) – creativity at its finest!
Students then recited nasheeds and Qur’an to showcase their beautiful voices. Sheikh Shams also provided a reminder, here is a small video with his feedback.
The evening was then rounded off with (well deserved) pizza, gifts with personalised messages for the fathers and the completion of pledge cards.
