Raising aspirations for Pakistani Girls
The Karima Foundation are collaborating with Study Higher to deliver an important conference aimed at raising aspirations of young Pakistani Women in High Wycombe.
Progression rates onto Higher Education and related courses is lower amongst the Pakistani young people compared to their peers from other ethnic groups. Progression rates for Pakistani girls, in particular, have been identified as a low progression rate group.
We hope the evening will inspire girls in year group 9-13 will inspire and encourage them to consider the options an opportunities available for them as they progress post 18.
We will have a short keynote from Dr Nasreen Majid, Associate Professor of Education from The University of Reading and Dr Shamsa Khan WP Officer at Oxford Brookes Uni to discuss the benefits and routes into Higher Education courses includes Degree Apprenticeships.
We will also include a panel discussion on the importance of education for both cultural & social mobility with professional Pakistani and Mirpuri women from a variety of backgrounds.
There will be an opportunity to network and for parents and students to ask questions about the best educational opportunities.
