Get Ahead

01 March 2022

The Karima Foundation is delighted to present our new project ‘Get Ahead’

The Get Ahead project launched in March 2022 and supports people over the age of 18 who are looking for employment or returning to work with CV writing and employability skills.

The team offer a range of interventions including group workshops or 1:1 support. The team have supported individuals who have been referred by our local partners including the Probation Service, One Recovery Bucks, Carers Bucks among other organisations.

We have launched our monthly drop in session branded 'The Motive' where young adults can come in, relax and participate in the activities we offer. The Motive is always adapting and offering something new so as to cultivate an engaging environment for the attendees and helps our team to build relationships with those in the community and encourage those in need of the Get Ahead services to work with us. We also run a weekly drop in on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm at the Castlefield Library for individuals looking for any advice and information.
Outreach is a big part of our programme, we are often around in the Castlefield and Oakridge areas. You may see our team around sometimes, don't feel shy to say hello! We are also sometimes in the town centre with a drop in at The Junction in the Eden Library.

"A big thank you for all your help with our very first What’s My Next Step workshop last Thursday. It was a real pleasure to work with you both! You really engaged well with our young adult carers : the game worked well and I think our young people really understood your offer clearly and were interested in finding out more – a definite sign of success. It would be great if I could come down sometime with one or two of them to see the youth group in action?

Thank you once again for all your help and expertise. Hopefully this is the start of some good partnering between Karima and Carers Bucks.

Looking forward to working with you again!"
