Karima Girl’s Project

 

The Karima Girl’s Project aims to work with young Muslim women between the ages of 14 and 16.


The aim of the group is to discuss issues such as Image, Identity, Self Esteem and Place within School and Society.
 

The young women that are part of the programme are not necessarily young women who have a religious Islamic interest, however the young women who are part of this programme may have issues around displacement and segregation. As well as maintaining the balance between Western and Islamic values, making them potentially ‘at risk’ of becoming more marginalised and developing questionable thinking. The programme will address some of these feelings of being marginalised and healthy ways of overcoming or dealing with them.

Wycombe Sharing of Faiths

Wycombe Sharing of Faiths is the local interfaith group.


It started in 1981 from shared concern and action when a local family was threatened with deportation. Initially it was Muslims and Christians who got together for a vigil on behalf of that family. Soon Hindus, Sikhs and Baha’is became involved when the group was formally constituted.

Wycombe Youth Forum

The Wycombe Youth Forum (WYF) was set up to give the young people of High Wycombe a voice as well as provide them with an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing young Muslims in Britain today. The direction of the forum is set and led by the young people so discussions can be centred around local, national and international issues.
